How Ductless Mini-Splits Work
A ductless mini-split system consists of an outdoor compressor unit connected to one or more indoor air handlers by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring.
The outdoor unit houses the compressor and heat exchanger, similar to a standard air conditioner or heat pump. Indoor units mount on walls or ceilings and deliver heated or cooled air directly to the room where they're installed.
